There are two main ways to perform an energy assessment for new/ and renovated Class 2 apartment buildings: Home Energy Rating Software (E.g. FirstRate, BERS PRO, AccuRate) or Deemed to Satisfy Assessment (DTS). AEEBC has extensive experience in performing energy efficiency assessments for high rise apartment buildings, both single use and mixed use. Please see below for an example of previous projects we have been involved in.
Energy efficiency assessment on the Altus Apartments using FirstRate 4.05a energy rating software. This design achieved an average rating of four stars.
AEEBC completed a Deemed to Satisfy assessment on this multi-storey apartment complex. We worked in collaboration with the architects to ensure each unit was fully compliant and thermally efficient.
AEEBC made sure low-cost practical ideas were employed when completing the FirstRate assessment of this apartment complex. A combination of standard glass and thermally efficient low-e glass was used in this design to ensure it achieved a four star average star rating.
The high percentage of glazing in these units meant we needed to look at cost effective ways of achieving compliance. The end result was a combination of thermally efficient glass on the worst exposed orientations (e.g. west, north and east) and insulation to dropped ceiling under upper floor balconies.
