HOUSE ENERGY RATING & DEEMED TO SATISFY ASSESSMENTS – CADDS ENERGY
There are two main ways to perform an energy assessment for new / existing residential houses: House Energy Rating Software (E.g. FirstRate, BERS PRO, AccuRate) or Deemed to Satisfy Assessment (DTS). CADDS Energy are fully trained, certified and highly proficient in the use of all residential energy efficiency assessment methods. Please see below for a detailed description of each assessment method we commonly use.
HOUSE ENERGY RATING
House Energy Rating Software (HERS) uses a holistic approach to assess overall building thermal performance, analysing all the elements of the building using highly sophisticated engines.
A completed house energy rating will provide the client with a star rating certificate based on how the house design performs thermally. The star rating of the house design must meet current BCA standards in order to obtain building License.
DEEMED TO SATISFY ASSESSMENTS
A deemed to satisfy assessment involves assessing your building against the energy efficiency clauses outlined in the BCA Volume 2. In order to satisfy the requirements of a deemed to satisfy assessment the building must comply with individual performance requirements of several main components such as: minimum insulation levels, glazing allowances and percentage of window openings per habitable room, before the DTS assessment can be completed.
The BCA outlines 8 different climate zones in Australia and each project must adhere to the specific energy efficiency requirements for that climate zone.
